To spread the good word, this post is being tagged from one iLander to another, spurring more and more people to get informed about eye-donation, and the ways/ means on how one could do it. Ever wondered how a sightless person would react to this song? How would he visualize the host of golden Daffodils, fluttering and dancing in the breeze, flash upon that inward eye, which was the  bliss of solitude for Wordsworth?! What a dark, dreary world with everything dyed in monochrome- BLACK !! And yet, those of us who are fortunate enough to be blessed with the miracle of sight, do precious little to restore this gift to our less fortunate brethren, snug in the comfort of our cocooned lives! Here are a few facts about corneal blindness. FACTSHEET Ø      Corneal blindness mostly affects children Ø      Corneal blindness can be cured only by corneal grafting from a donated eye Ø      One can pledge to donate eyes during one’s lifetime Ø      Eyes can be donated only after death Ø      If not pledged, eye donation can be done with the consent of relatives Ø      People of all age groups can donate eyes Ø      In India, there is a requirement of about 1 lakh corneas per year, whereas only 30,000 are donated Ø      This shortfall can easily be bridged by spreading awareness about eye donation  HOW WE CAN HELP Spread the good word around- most of us are not aware how a little effort on our part can light up someone’s life! In the unfortunate event of death of an acquaintance, try to persuade the family to donate the eyes. This is the toughest part, considering the sensitivity of the situation, but if the family can be convinced that     * the eyes of the donor will live on after him,     * giving sight to two persons for a lifetime, and     * that the procedure of removal is free of cost, simple, hassle-free, & does not cause any disfigurement to the body, it is quite likely they would agree. So here’s the real test of your persuasive skills! Once you have their consent, here’s what you need to do next.       Call the nearest eye bank immediately. For Delhi, dial 1919 ( 24 hr-MTNL Toll-free service).Telephone  numbers of eye banks in other cities are available on the website www.lightaneye.org.       Switch off all fans in the room- cooler or AC, if available, can run.       Wrap some ice cubes in damp cotton, & keep them on the eyes. This  prevents the tissue from drying up, & helps keep it fesh.       Keep the head slightly raised with a pillow.       Doctor/technician from the eye bank will reach the venue within the shortest possible time, collect about 10 ml blood, and remove the corneas, all in 15 minutes.       Eyes are fit for retrieval upto 6 hours after death.       Remember, donated corneas are never sold/traded.   The Govt of India is also organizing National Eye Donation Fortnight from August 25 to Sept 8, 2007 to highlight the cause.                                   Droplets of happiness (part 2)

Today was Kunal’s interview & at home Silvi anxiously waiting  & weaving the dreams of future. Delightful& praying she   thought all I have to wait for Kunal’s call and all my dreams will take shape in future .She had full faith  that he will get this job . Today they  were going to meet  Kunal’s parents. Her parents too were In favour of the relationship. Everything seems so perfect.

RING!RING!

(Silivi came running to pick up the phone )

Kunal: Congratulation .I got the job. Come on meet me at Barista .I am waiting for you.

Silvi:I am coming.

 I n Barista sitting besides each other .

Silvi : Today I a m very happy Kunal . These moments are very precious to me I will always remember them throughout my life .Its like one step back we have all those moments in which we  met ,became best friends,expressed our love ,fought over stupid things &said sorry ….that every sharing and caring moment   & one step ahead is our future  in which we will get married , have kids ..become dada dadi nana nani……

Kunal: In the middle is this moment where we r sitting and admiring .Let  us leave for the home  .Mummy is waiting eagerly for us.

(On the bike Kunal and Silvi left for home.)

Silvi : Don’t speed up Kunal.

Kunal : Its highway darling.

Suddenly two trucks from the back started speeding and tried to overtake the bike .Kunal tried to give it pass but suddenly there was hit with huge sound .Silvi was on the road &became unconscious.

She woke up in the hospital after two days .Her parents were standing in front of her .

Mom: how r u ?

 Silvi: How is Kunal?

(Mom&dad both started staring at each other .Suddenly Dr. Malohtra came in .)

Dr. Malhotra: How r u Silvi?Don’t talk u need rest .I am giving u injection u need to sleep.Mr.&Mrs. Mathur don’t talk to her(smiling).

Silvi : Dr all i wanted to know is how is Kunal?Can I meet him.

Dr.Malhotra : Silvi, Kunal  went home .O.K. now go to sleep.

(Medicine did its work .Silvi went to sleep thanking GOD . Kunal went home& soon I will meet him.)

Next morning when Silvi woke up .She could see the fear and tension on her parents face.

She kept thinking what would happened to the  if something happened to her.

Why is Kunal not calling her ?

Dad: “Silvi, Kunal mother want to talk to u she is on the phone”

Kunal’s mom: How r u , silvi.

Silvi:I am fine. How is kunal?Can I talk to him?

Kunal’s Mom:He is sleeping right now.when he will be awake I will ask him to call u.

                        U know all the medicines Dr. gives make him sleepy all the time .

                        O.K. bye beta.

Silvi: Bye.

 Every time she asked about Kunal both dad &mom ignored the question . Mom &Dad were not allowed to bring phone in ICU. How I will call Kunal ?

  Today Silvi was discharged  from hospital .Dr. said she was out danger &she can go home. She   was sitting in the reception .Mom was asking Dr. Malhotra about some medicine . Dad was out  to bring car from parking .At reception she saw phone .She coud’nt stop herself.

Silvi:Can I do one call from here.

Receptionist: sure.

(Silvi called at  kunal home .)

Ring! Ring!ring! ring! (why anybody is not picking it up.)

“Hello”

Silvi:Who is this . Can I talk to Kunal ?

Relative: I am Kunal relative.Oh! I think u don’t know about Kunal. 10 days before a truck ran over him .He was dead on the spot.

Silivi :what??

Truck ran over him.

“Silvi  …Silvi . “It was mom .”Silvi what r u thinking. Party is very nice.”

(From the memory lane she was back in the party.)

“U know Silvi this is double moment of happiness for Aggrawal’s their 25th anniversary & their son got the job in U.S. It’s dream of every parent to see their children well settled.”

Silvi: Yes Mom (hugging &hiding her tears ) it is dream of every child to make their parents happy .

It is the grand party of Mr. & Mrs. Aggrwal 25^th anniversary.

Silvi was here with her parents.”Namste Mausi”.

It was Aunty Savita. Mostly she try to avoid her but she was standing in front of her so now she has to wish her& now she knew that she is going to get started .

And…Aunty Savita started.” Hello! Mr. &Mrs. Mathur . How r u?  So what’s going on . Were u able to make up mind from rishtey  I send it to u. Well recently Mrs. Nigam son has come back from U.S.A. You know he is greencard holder . He is here for six weeks and Mrs. Nigam did not want to send his son alone. She wanted him to get married before he go back .I will send u his biodata to you. Believe me yeh jodi khoob jameigi! “

Mrs. Mathur: Oh! sure Savita.

Savita: O.K. then we will meet later for now I have to meet other guest . Bye .

Silvi:Thank GOD she leftor I thought  even before this party end she will get me married. .

Mrs. Mathur : Don’t speak like that .she is concerned about u .she only wanted to help…

Silvi : Smiling ! Oh Yes !O.K. Both of u go & meet another guest  I will sit here and enjoy the dance.

Mr. Mathur : Come with us Silvi.

Silvi :No Dad . please let me sit here.

Mr. Mathur: o.k.

At the stage Mr .&Mrs. Aggrwal  were dancing  taking hands in hand and there relatives &childrens.

“Come on Silvi dance with us” It was Ravi , Mr.Aggrwal’s son .

Silvi:No.PLEASE no.

      “Come on “ she was pulled up by the group of friends.

After good dance Silvi was sitting on the chair with cold drink in the hand.

She  had flash back of college days .

(It was the fresher’s  dance party.)

Kunal :I love you ,Silvi.

Silvi: I love you too .Kunal ,did u told about us to u’r parents.

Kunal:Yes , mummy wanted to meet u but I said no.

agencies.I want u  to meet my parents  the day I will get the job. Then onlyI   will meet

 Silvi: Why did u do so?

Kunal: See this is last year of our college  and I have also given application in placement               u’r parents and ask u’r hand in marriage.   

Silvi: Kunal& if in the meanwhile my parents fixed my marriage to someone else then.

Kunal: Then what ?We will say adios to each other .

Silvi: kunal   ???

Kunal:  o.k. o.k I was just joking.

I will never let this situation come . I  PROMISE.

          WHO IS THE BETTER?

Two friends 

1^st  friend : I have everything which is needed to be good leader &successful person in life .The attitude, personality ,leadership qualities , ideology , belief, motivational qualities…everything.

2^nd  friend :So do I . so how do we decide who is the better one of us. Let’s do something that help us to know this.

Both of them decided  to motivate  student weaker in studies  of class. At the end of semester there grades will decide who is the winner.

1stfriend:Helped the weaker student by giving notes , providing book ,helped solving assignments and regularly reminded him that he has to get good grades by any means as he has to win the bet.

2^nd friend:Helped the student by providing book ,notes helping in assignment and told him he will be available whenever he needs him any kind of help will be provided by him all he has to do is concentrate in his studies .So that he can realize his future dreams as he wanted.

Student of 1^st friend did wanted to meet the expectation of his helper and by all means whether  it was of using unfair means .

Student of 2^nd  friend did wanted to meet the expectation . So he spent most of his time in concentrating on his studies. Everytime when his mind  deviated from studies all he remember the inspiring words of his helper friend.

Exam results were out. Student of 1^st friend got the better grades than 2^nd student .

So who makes the better  leader?
